Carbohydrates play an important role in supplying us with the necessary energy for the functioning of the body, including muscle and brain activity. Lack of carbohydrate affects both the power indicators of athletes and on the work body in general, may also lead to weakness, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, reduction of the intensity of the training process.

 

D elyatsya carbohydrates into two types:

fast (simple) and slow (complex)

Fast carbohydrates:

  • Monosaccharides – glucose, fructose, galactose
  • Disaccharides – – sucrose, lactose, maltose

Sources of carbohydrates:

  • Honey
  • Fruit
  • Vegetables

Slow carbohydrates:

  • Starch
  • Glycogen
  • Insulin
  • Cellulose

Sources of carbohydrates:

  • Kashi (rice, oats, buckwheat, corn)
  • Pasta made of durum wheat
  • Bread wholemeal
  • Potatoes
